The Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation is known for its support of the arts, and the Portland Press Herald has an example of how it's been doing just that in Maine.
The Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation has given $25,000 to the Fit Girls of Franklin County to create a front garden bed at the entrance of a school in Wilton, reports the Portland Press Herald.
The nonprofit group's mission: "to teach kids, who are at a particularly susceptible age, the joy of givingfor themselves, their peers, and their community at large," says executive director Karli Erickson.
The project is part of the Fit Girls Cares program, in which students work with volunteer coaches on community service projects.
Last fall, the group planted 250 daffodil bulbs at two local schools.
"The daffodil bulbs delight all who see them with many teachers and students remarking on how cheerful seeing the blooms made them feel each day," says the Fit Girls website.
